I teach saxophone lessons as well as improvisation lessons, which are open to all instruments. For the latter, however, you should already have certain technical skills on the instrument

I offer each student an individualised teaching concept, which can of course be modified over time. As always in my lessons, I cater to personal wishes and goals.

A relaxed atmosphere is important to me. Yes, of course you should learn and work, but please do so without pressure and stress, and instead with fun and enjoyment.

You don’t just play the saxophone with your instrument, the sound production begins in the player’s body. The entire airway from the diaphragm to the lips is involved. Solid air support, good posture and a knowledge or feeling of the processes inside the body are important. Then the saxophone sound can become an extended personal voice

In addition to reading music, which you learn along with the rhythm when learning the saxophone, I also attach great importance to trusting your ears and being able to let go of the sheet music. “Playing by ear” is an important basis for learning to improvise later on.

Your own saxophone sound is not just about the “tone”. Phrasing and articulation are also important components. Every style of music has its own demands in terms of expression and interpretation. Jazz, blues, rock, Latin and many other styles are “at home” on the saxophone.

In the course of my teaching activities, I have developed many exercises to teach my students, from beginners to advanced players, a wide variety of aspects.

Beginners

I am often asked whether I also teach beginners. The answer is always: “Yes, I’d love to!” Over the years, I have repeatedly taught beginners, even without any previous musical knowledge, from pupils to pensioners.

At the beginning, it is particularly important to familiarise yourself with the instrument and learn the basics of sound production. Depending on your interests, ear training and improvisation also have their place right from the start. So far, everyone has also learnt to read music with me – it’s not rocket science.

Advanced Students

Depending on your interests and abilities, we will discuss your goals and how I can support you in achieving them. Based on this, we will then develop a personal practice programme.

Improvisation is not tied to a specific instrument
That’s why I also offer improvisation lessons for all instruments.

Beginners

Everbody can improvise!
You just have to dare to do it.

You can get started with improvisation quite simply using a few notes or sounds and simple rhythms and their variations. Things like ear training and harmony come from the playful use of these simple materials and melodies.

Advanced Players

Based on my many years of experience as a jazz and improvisation musician in a wide variety of styles, I also offer individually tailored lessons for advanced students.

I’d love to hear from you: With my many years of experience, I can certainly give you new ideas or simply help to fill in gaps in your knowledge.
